China trip cancled
I was supposed to go to China Tuesday next week…but as you may have seen on the news, the government has been quarantining people for North America. Last week, I recived notice that the new policy was to keep everyone on the plane after landing and go through and do body temperature scans. If you have a fever, quarantined. If you are near someone with a fever, you get locked up in a hotel for 3 days to see if you develop a fever. If the “suspect” with the fever is swine flu, the whole flight could be tracked down and quarantined. Crazy! Since then I have been rethinking the trip. I don’t want to fly 14hrs in a middle seat coach only to sit on the ground for hours as they do temperature checks….only to be locked up because I am sitting enxt to someone with a fever…but now, I just got the below posted message. So, since I am North American they reserve the right to deny me entry upon arrival….I think thats enough to cancel the trip! Argh.
China suspends some visa issuance due to H1N1 virus
CWT has obtained reports indicating the Chinese Embassy has announced, effective
immediately and until further notice, it is suspending the issuance of visas to certain
applicants in response to the H1N1 virus. This suspension applies to travelers holding
passports with entry/exit stamps indicating travel in Mexico, Spain, the United States and
Canada dated from April 20, 2009 forward. This suspension is irrespective of the
traveler’s nationality and applies to new applicants and any travelers with existing valid
Chinese visas.
In addition, Chinese authorities have advised of a possibility that travelers arriving by
aircraft on a previously issued visa may be refused entry by immigration officials if their
passport shows recent travel to any of the above listed countries.
