A good use of time?
As many of you know I ahte my phone (Samsung Ace WindowsMobile 6.1 Smartphone). I however, do not have a choice unless I want to pay for my own service, and carry two phone which I did for a while, but that got old.
Anyway, one of my chief complaints is that it often freezes. Another is that it has no capability for sending multi media messages (pictures in text messages). And another is that it never had enough “resources” to even launch the camera. The phone only has 50MB of memory and the OS takes up 30…doesn’t leave much room. Additionally, I could not figure out how to check what was taking up all the memory. I have to constantly delete emails as they come in and I have not had any photos or videos stored on the phone. I also deleted all my SMS folders.
So, I now have been getting cosntant pop-ups about my lack of memory. So I finally went into the Sprint store. After getting screened by the “greeter” I get to go back to the tech support desk. I explain my problem and the guy says okay, we will fix it. I ask how? and he says “well I don’t actually know anything about this phone I need to give it to the tech team” okay..so whay am I wasting my time with you? I could have told this all to the greeter who could tell the tech team, or let me talk directly to the tech team. So it will be 30 minutes.
I come back later and get my phone and talk to the tech team. “We fixed your phone, resolved the problem” really? me: “What did you do” “A hard reset. Great. I could have done that. so I ask if there is anyway to resolve the problem otherwise. NO. Can I view my files and understand what is taking up the memory? NO. Can I delete temp files. NO. Is this issue avoidable? Of course, we don’t expect you will have this problem again. why not…argh…anyway..he starts explaining that I have lost all my data, settings, and applications in the hard reset, except he sved my contacts for me. So he shows me, and my contacts are empty. I try to explpain that all my contacts are on the network and not the phone anyway, so no big deal. But he insitis. I am sure a reboot will fix this, so he cycles power. The phone freezes during reboot. So he takes the battery out and reboots. The phone freezes. While he tries agian, he suggests maybe I should get a new phone. Its still under warranty so he will order one. I ask if I accidentaly run over the phone can i get a new model. No. I call the work support desk to tell them I am getting a new phone for free. They send me some paper work and say OK. in the mean time, my phone miraculously comes to life…of course no contacts. Anyway. I still have a new phone on order. I can’t wait. I have no faith that it will run any better. I resync’d with the network…I now have my contacts.
